New Organic Collection Service

Food Scrap Collection

Beginning January 1, 2018, residents will be able to put food scraps with yard waste in the organics(brown lid) curbside cart!

Acceptable food scraps include: cooked and raw fruits and vegetables, grains, bread, meat, bones and eggshells, and food soiled paper, as well as pizza boxes and coffee filters. Acceptable yard waste continues to include grass, shrub and tree trimmings (up to 3 feet long and 2 inches in diameter), weeds, leaves, and cut flowers.

Please No palm fronds, yucca, cacti, animal feces or kitty litter. Put these items in your trash cart (grey lid).

As part of the new food scrap collection service, Waste Management is offering a free kitchen pail for food scrap collection. Call Waste Management at (866) 844-1508 or visit them online at SacramentoValley.WM.com to request a no-additional-cost kitchen pail (fits under or on top of your kitchen counter).

If you don’t currently have an organics yard waste cart and would like to add food scrap collection service, please contact Waste Management by calling (530) 919-8049 to set up new organics collection service.
